Meditation

New sessions begins September 2022

Meditation can positively impact mental and physical health.  Whether it’s by reducing stress, improving sleep, increasing focus, or improving relationships and plenty more.

At present we run 2 programmes a year: September and January. This is held weekly at the Meeting Room, All Saints Church, Pavement, Pocklington on Mondays from 10.30am to 12.00 noon. An additional programme may be run if the course is full. 

We initially utilise a u3a recommended book Mindfulness A practical guide to finding peace in a frantic world by Prof. Mark Williams (Oxford University) and Dr Danny Penman. Participants will be recommended to purchase a copy also available on Kindle.

We do not favour any religion, or sit on the floor cross legged or shout out a mantra or wear special clothes. The meetings are facilitator led and discussion based with 2-3 meditations within each session.

The price per meeting will vary depending on the number of participants. £2.00-£3.00  (We need to cover the cost of the room for 1 1/2 hours which at present is £12).   Members take turns to bring in tea/coffee etc.
