The u3a is moving ahead with some exciting and necessary changes to meet the challenges of retaining and recruiting members. These changes will help to keep the u3a a dynamic and relevant organisation enriching the lives of its’ members.

The Communications Committee is to be renamed Collaboration and Identity Strategic Group

This Strategic Group will focus on two strategic aims:
• To promote a u3a collective identity
• To collaborate with like minded organisations at all levels of the movement. The Strategic Group

-will ensure that the Trust works to achieve these two objectives and work towards a strong cohesive u3a movement where people feel part of the u3a identity at every level.

- will ensure that the Trust maximises its resources to raise the profile of the movement at every opportunity

- will review potential collaborations to ensure that they are in the best interests of the Trust and u3a movement

-will find new opportunities to engage with different media, audiences and potential members

This Strategic Group will link with the Policy and Communications Department (of staff and volunteers).

We are looking for u3a members interested in joining this important group.

A background in public Affairs, journalism or marketing would be very useful but not necessary. An understanding that the words and images we use are really important for getting our message across.

We plan to meet at least 4 times a year and two of those meetings will be face to face.
