Enjoying Literature

It has been suggested that our name could frighten off potential members but we decided that this was an accurate description.  We are a harmonious and welcoming group with a shared enthusiasm for literature in its widest interpretation.  We are not a ‘Book Group’ but we do read and discuss novels.  We also read poetry and plays, consider authors and writers in terms of their lives, interests and influences and we look at all sorts of literature ranging from writing from the distant past to that of the present day.  We also look at work in translation and from different cultures and a whole variety of genres from fiction to biography or travel.  If you love to read and to talk about what you have read, or if you have a desire to learn more about our literary heritage in convivial surroundings with like-minded people, then come and find out more about us.  Currently we meet on the third Monday of the month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm in Wold Road, but we are looking at an increase in the number of meetings.  For confirmation of meetings, contact Group Leader.
